Just tried this product out, it is one of my favorites for the Tassimo machine. Just to give you and idea of my tastes, the other products I like on the Tassimo are the Gevalia cappuccino/latte, the starbucks cappuccino/latte, and the Suchard’s hot chocolate. Gevalia Swiss hazelnut coffee is ok. Maxwell house cappuccino is ok. Not a huge fan of the starbucks verona bold roast coffee. Milka hot chocolate is horrid.

I just made my second cup of the Gevalia Caramel Latte Macchiato, and I have to say I truly enjoy this product. (I’m ordering a second 2-pack as soon as I’m done here.)

The flavored espresso T-disc fills the kitchen with caramel aroma, and the taste after adding the milk T-disc is fabulous.

A previous reviewer spoke about a lack of flavor and bitterness, and I suppose if one is used to syrup-sweetened beverages, that might be true.

This is, however, a latte: that means the bite of a good espresso is supposed to be in there, and in this case, that bite is enhanced by a hint of caramel.

This product would get five stars if not for the two-step, need-to-clean process that is always involved with a milk T-disc, but even first thing in the morning, the extra effort is worth the taste.

Gevalia Caramel Latte Macchiato is very good as is, but….

Try this for a five star recipe.

First, add about 5 seconds of extra water after the initial brewing process is complete. Then, add the milk disc. Remove cup and add 2 tsp of Torani caramel syrup, and 1/2 tsp of raw cane sugar. Stir it up good. Then, sprinkle the foamy top with some cinnamon. This is just as good as any cafe.

    Enjoy!

I had high hopes for this product, but was disappointed by the slightly weak taste. It wasn’t awful, but I just wasn’t impressed. I’d say between 2.5-3 stars, but since 2.5 isn’t an option I went with three. The espresso taste was weaker than the plain Maxwell house branded latte and cappuccino T-discs I usually get from the grocery store, and I couldn’t detect any caramel flavor at all. I ended up putting in caramel flavored syrup or caramel sauce to make this actually taste like a caramel macchiato. I could adjust it to make a stronger espresso flavor, too, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. I am curious if the Maxwell house version of this will be any better. Packaging is almost identical except for the the change in brand name. As far as basic latte and cappuccino T-discs go, I have to say I am LOVING the new Starbucks brand ones. Great espresso flavor. I add my own flavored syrups for a tasty coffeehouse flavor at home. Honestly macchiato just means layers, so adding caramel to any of the other basic latte T-discs gives you a caramel macchiato. To make the layers you pour the espresso carefully into the milk layer. So milk disc first, then espresso. I find putting a spoon under the flow of the espresso with some caramel on it works well to get the right layered effect and as a great way to add caramel flavor. Just be careful not to burn yourself!

I am absolutely no coffee aficionado but I know what I like my coffee to taste like. I have owned several coffee machines from Super Automatic Machines by Delonghi as well as the original Tassimo machine made by Braun which was a horrible experience (extremely loud). I have also owned Semi-Automatic espresso machines but returned them do to the amount of labor it took to produce a beverage compared to the likes of a super-automatic or the Tassimo. I recently purchased a new Bosch T65 Tassimo since I no longer have my Super-Automatic. I sold my Delonghi Super-Automatic after feeling bad about owning a $1,500 espresso machine and going through a phase where I was not drinking as much coffee as I was before. I’m now back into coffee drinking ever day and found myself getting caught driving through Starbucks ordering my favorite Tall Skinny Vanilla Latte about every day. I soon realized this habit was playing havoc on my pocket book and I had to stop. With the aficionado Tassimo by Bosch, I have been enjoying the Gevalia Caramel Latte Macchiato every day, sometimes twice a day! The smell as it brews is heavenly and has a great caramel smell when the brewing begins. I have tried different strengths of the espresso because to me it has a horribly bitter taste when left on the automatic mode. Now again, I am not a professional coffee aficionado but I know what I like. My taste pallet has really grown to love the Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte which is nice and smooth and not too sweet so I find myself comparing everything I drink to the Skinny Vanilla Latte. I have also discovered that I really enjoy buying the Starbucks House blend as it has a pleasant taste to me without any bitter flavor. I’m not sure if it’s normal for the Gevalia Caramel Latte espresso to have a normal bitter flavor but it’s a bit much for me. I have learned to add a little sugar to help hide the bitterness or have the Tassimo add more water. The problem with the latter is the latte really looses any flavor it had if you reduce the strength of the espresso to much. Figuring out how to reduce the bitterness makes this a great drink for me. I would love to see some T-Discs produced with a vanilla flavor! If you enjoy caramel flavored drinks, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one. Just be sure to adjust accordingly for bitterness if it bothers you.
